Boston Biotech & Pharma BD Roundtable - 2018

Boston, July 31, 2018

Goodwin, Defined Health, Donnelley Financial Systems, and Solebury Trout welcomes you to join the next edition of the Boston Biotech & Pharma BD Roundtable.

This invitation-only event gathers stakeholders from Biotech, Pharma, Payer and Investor ecosystems and is intended to be interactive with all attendees contributing their unique perspectives. As with years past, we will drive a productive and action-oriented conversation in an open dialogue around a conference table. This year, we will explore creative solutions for the benefit of all stakeholders by working together and alongside one another rather than in silos. Our hope is to discuss ways to enable rich biopharma pipelines of novel therapeutics, how to best work with partnering relationships and how to access patients.

Suggested Discussion Topics (we welcome your suggestions):

  • The advent of advanced therapeutics: building sustainable companies in rare diseases and advanced therapeutics vs. partnering with, or building for acquisition by pharma; tenable options for innovators to commercialize without pharma partnerships; VC appetite
  • Real world implications of FDA initiatives to speed market approvals; 21st Century Cures, RMAT designations, breakthrough therapies, etc., compression of early commercial development strategies, brand and commercial launch planning
  • One time cures and novel combination therapies; value based pricing and at risk cost sharing; ICER influence/consensus; public opinion
  • How has the massive influx of capital into the biotech sector impacted the way biotechs and pharma view BD? 1Q 2018 raised ~ $4.7B in in biotech funding (Pitchbook), which is roughly equivalent to the TOTAL capital raised for all of 2012 or 2013 (~ $4.5B, Pitchbook)…the beginning of the current biotech financing surge
